We all need a little Headspace
Sometimes all we have is 10 minutes. In fact I usually have to convince myself I have 10 minutes. It's so easy to pull out my phone and lose myself in emails, Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, or whatever else is clawing at my attention. Yes turning it all off, for just 10 minutes can make a huge change. However turning it off isn't so easy.
I admit to having a problem with killing time lost in my phone. I work hard to break the habit but it is easy to fall back into. Instead of fighting a losing battle, I prefer to find a positive solution. Headspace is one of those positive solutions. For 10-20 minutes, I get to improve my day, rest my mind, and feel better all over.
I tried so many different mindful apps. Some on complex meditations, others on being present, but none of them kept my attention for long. I found I gravitate toward programs backed by science, that speak everyday language and Headspace does just that. Also their programs have a beginning and an end, allowing me to feel like I'm making progress.
Here is the TED Talk that Andy Puddicombe the voice and creator of Headspace did about "Taking 10".
